Intersand, a premium cat litter manufacturer, has been named an award recipient of “Canada’s Best Managed Companies.” Receiving the award first in 2019, Intersand successfully retained its status for three consecutive years and became a Gold Standard winner in 2022, company officials reported.

Intersand has continued to strengthen its position through sustained growth and a strong corporate culture, making it a powerful member in this prestigious group, officials said. The company has implemented strong business strategies over the last few years that have enabled it to grow and strengthen its position as a world leader in the animal hygiene industry, officials added. The addition of a United States-based plant in 2020 has also been a driving force behind Intersand’s rapid growth and success.

“This prestigious designation is even more meaningful this year as we celebrate our thirtieth anniversary,” said Stéphane Chevigny, president of the Boucherville, Quebec, Canada-based company. “The award highlights our team’s hard work and the progress we have made since the company was founded in 1992. This program recognizes Canadian-owned and managed companies for innovative, world-class business practices. Every year, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies compete for this recognition in a rigorous process. Through an independent judging panel, applicants are selected not only for financial performances, but the overall company performance and sustainable business growth.

Now in its twenty-ninth year, Canada’s Best Managed Companies recognizes Canadian owned and managed companies for innovative, world class business practices with revenues over $50 million. These companies are cultivating business strategies that integrate environmental, social and governance considerations.

2022 Best Managed Companies share commonalities that include (but are not limited to) “putting their people and culture at the forefront, focusing on their ESG strategies and doubling down on accelerated digitization,” officials said. The Best Managed program is sponsored by Deloitte Private, CIBC, The Globe and Mail.
