How often do you clean the refrigerator?

Baking soda removes stains and odors

Kitchen queen Martha Stewart recommends using baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to clean the inside of the refrigerator according to the seasons. She recommends using ordinary soap, because soap usually has a fragrance and this smell can be absorbed by certain foods. In addition, baking soda has the added benefit of absorbing odors and eliminating odors. Mix two tablespoons of baking soda with a cup of hot water and wipe the inside of the refrigerator. Rinse the mixture with a damp cloth and then dry it with a clean towel.

If you find that there are some harder, lumpy residues in the refrigerator, use a wet towel to apply a large amount of the same mixture as above to the problematic area. Open the refrigerator door and let the mixture sit on the residue for 10 minutes. If necessary, wipe to remove and repeat.

How to clean shelves and drawers

As time goes by, you will find that your refrigerator shelves become more and more dirty, and the refrigerator drawers often contain vegetables and other fresh food. The easiest way to clean these is to remove them from the equipment and soak them in the sink (rotate the shelf regularly to ensure all sides are soaked) or soak them in the bathtub.

Make two tablespoons of baking soda solution for every warmed water and soak the drawers and shelves in it. Do not clean them in the dishwasher. Dry them thoroughly before putting them in the refrigerator.

Or, mix three parts water and one part cleansing vinegar into a spray bottle, spray on your shelf and wipe dry.

Did you notice a smell when you opened the refrigerator door? If you know that your refrigerator is clean, the unpleasant smell can be resolved due to your morning coffee habit. Sprinkle some fresh coffee grounds on the tray or plate and put it in the refrigerator. The smell should disappear quickly, leaving a pleasant coffee aroma, which will eventually disappear.

Another creative solution, especially for pet owners, is to use some cat litter. Spread half an inch of odorless cat litter on the plate and place it in the refrigerator until the smell disappears.

You should regularly wipe the refrigerator door, including the edges and the top of the refrigerator, with a damp cloth dampened with dishwashing liquid and water. For a deeper cleaning, use a mixture of hot water and mild dishwashing liquid to clean the door seal to remove any remaining debris, then dry it thoroughly with a clean cloth.
