Hibbing, Minnesota (KROC AM News)-This year, Minnesota saw an average of more than 1 pedestrian-related traffic fatalities per week. Another pedestrian-related traffic fatal accident was reported in Hibbing on Thursday.
The Minnesota State Patrol stated that the victim was hit by a small SUV while trying to cross Highway 169 at about 6:30 pm. The state patrol stated that the driver “could not avoid the collision and hit a pedestrian.”
The victim was identified as 28-year-old Chris Ozzello of Hibbing. He died on the spot. The car is driven by 18-year-old Hibbing’s Ethan Lund.
According to state public safety officials, at least 48 pedestrians have been killed in Minnesota so far this year.
