NORTHPORT, NY — Oke and Sylvia, 4-month-old kittens, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.

Oke has adorable markings, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the cat rescue. Her brother was adopted, but because Oke is a bit shy, she has been overlooked, according to Wild.

"When her cage is opened she immediately starts to purr," Wild said. "She will rub her head up against your hand, timid but craving for love. She is such a little lady, and will just steal your heart away. She looks out her cage at Petco Commack, practically begging to be noticed. She likes to play with other cats and kittens as well. She needs a gentle home that will take the time to make her feel safe and loved. In return, you will get the sweetest little kitten ever. It is her turn to walk out of her cage and into her family’s arms."

Sylvia is an attention sponge, according to Wild.

"When you walk into a room she starts chatting and begging for pets and belly rubs," Wild said. "It is endless the amount of time she can remain by your side getting all the affection. She does not care to be alone, is very people-friendly and gets along with other cats as well. She is a real doll and everyone who meets her falls in love with her."

The two kittens may be adopted out individually — they just need a family to go home to, Wild said.

They are both spayed, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.

If you are interested in meeting Oke or Sylvia, you may head to the Northport Cat Rescue website and fill out an application to let them know you would like to meet them or any of the rescue's other wonderful kittens and cats.
